When will Dave be home? Hope he stays well through it all. Did you get your ammo this morning? Hope you had a fun day in Salina and got your baby fix as well. It will be quiet with your brother gone for the holidays!
Good to hear you are almost well! I woke up yesterday feeling much better and didn't have to blow even after getting up twice. DH said I looked much better and he knew I wasn't feeling well because I didn't care about the kitchen and normally I am pretty OCD about that. He went to play pickleball last night but I thought I better wait till next time.
This morning we went to Guaymas and got stuff at Sams - lots of goodies for Christmas and for the dinner tomorrow. I am doing salmon with veggies and either potatoes or rice. Melon and ham for starters and baklava bites for afters.
The painter is doing the last bits and the electrician will be over to check his work to make sure all the outside lights and fans are working.
Yesterday I deleted the house picture off my FB page by mistake - hit a wrong button and it was gone. Grrr. I googled it but there doesn't seem a way to get it back. I could post it again but all the comments are gone. Oh well - worse things happens at sea, as my gran used to say. Still I feel so silly.
I better post this and see if it comes out ok on the iPad. For some reason my posts look really weird on there but ok on the computer. No idea why...
Have a great day!

I had a busy morning. I left the house at 6 a.m.!! I picked up Judi and we went to the sporting goods store. We were standing out front, with about 16 other people, waiting for them to open at 7. An employee comes out and tells us they don't open until 8!! We all started telling her we'd called and their employees had told us 7. She went back in and called her manager. She hadn't even asked us why we were there, but she came back and told us that they would bring the 22 ammo up to the front registers and let us in to buy that and only that. She knew what we all were wanting!! That's how hard it is to get. And what we were buying wasn't even in their ad this morning. It was strictly from us all calling. Anyway, we got the ammo. I will call this evening to see if they will have more in the morning. If so, I get to go do it all, again, except I know for sure they open at 7 in the morning!
After that, we went to Kohl's and then to breakfast, Big Lots and then I filled the car with gas ($1.89 today!!) and I took her home. I stopped at the candy factory outlet store up the road here and bought a few more stocking stuffers.
Dave has called about 3 times today. The first time was to see if we had been able to buy any. The plant wasn't ready for him to oversee the installation of that new part. There was a lot of prep work. He said that the people at the plant hadn't done any of the work he'd told them to. I guess there was some other problem with something, so they totally ignored what he said. So the day shift today is probably getting to do that. He also found out they needed a lot more small parts. Since it's Sunday, they probably won't be able to locate most of them until tomorrow. At least. He said he might not be home for Christmas. It all depends on how long it takes them to get what they need. The kids will be here, but Dave might not be. We'll have to celebrate whenever he does make it home. It would be the first time one of these jobs messed up Christmas, but he has had to leave and head out of town on our anniversary before. Oh, well.
I'm tired, now. I feels like it ought to be 6 or 7 p.m. and it's not even 2:30. I fell asleep a lot earlier last night, but I was wide awake by 4 a.m. and decided to go ahead and get up so I wouldn't be rushed. I'm glad I did, because if I'd fallen back to sleep, I probably would have woken up groggy.
When Judi and I were out for breakfast this morning, I saw one of the former Salina City Commissioners/Mayor from when I was City Clerk over there. He was eating breakfast there with his wife and daughter. The daughter hadn't even been born, yet, last time I saw him. She looked to be at least 10. We hugged and chatted a bit. He had barely left when another guy came over and said, you don't remember me, do you? But I looked at him and I did!! He worked at a Lt. for the fire department over there as the head of the EMS (ambulance). I hadn't seen him in an equally long time. Talk about a small world. I rarely see anyone when I'm over there and now I see 2. I was already FB friends with the first one and now I am with the 2nd guy, too. It was great seeing them both. It made my morning.
I'm just waiting for a friend to come over now and give me camping money. She was supposed to come over, yesterday, but couldn't.
How is your weekend going?

I don't know why, but your post didn't show up until after I'd posted. Hmmmm.
I'm glad you're better. I had more drainage, again, yesterday and last night, but it's been a little better, again, today. The cold, damp air doesn't help. Smart thinking on skipping the pickleball.
There's a Christmas party? That can be fun and dangerous for the waist. Baklava. Yum.
Oh, no, that's terrible about the photo!! Darn, anyway. You completely deleted it from the photos on Facebook or just off your timeline? Did you look to see if it was anywhere else in your photos? I know it seems like sometimes it puts mine in more than one place for some reason. I don't think there's any way to get it back with the comments, but I don't know for sure. Good luck!
I had notice that your posts started out ok, but then the font and color were messed up towards the end. I wasn't sure why that was happening.
Do you think maybe I might be lucky enough to be able to nap?

Oh no! Dave maybe missing Christmas Then again a big job is worth it and you can always celebrate Christmas a few days later.
Your day our sounds great. Happy new ammo and wow on the price of gas! What fun to run into people you (used to) know. Hope you can get some more ammo next time. I had no idea it was getting so hard to find... Did you buy anything at Kohls or did you just do your returns?
I checked on FB and the picture is gone too - I posted it straight to my timeline, that may be why. Oh well. This afternoon I put lights in the palm tree outside. I will take pics and post one of them, that will show the new color as well.
I think my posts show up funny because a setting changes when I go back and edit (I get lots of typos). My brain is faster than my fingers Never mind, it looks ok on the computer, it's only on the iPad.
It is not really a Christmas party, just dinner with friends. Tomorrow night was the only night we could all make it. There will be only the 4 of us - my table isn't big enough for more. When you cook salmon, do you remove the skin or leave it on? I normally remove it before cooking but that's quite a hassle with a big piece. I looked up recipes and they never mention it Either way should work, right?
I'll be busy tomorrow, getting the house clean and prepping for the dinner. My fridge is so full right now! Tuesday is DD's birthday, she'll be 27. She is staying with my mum on the island, recovering from a nasty bout of 'flu. She is still very weak but at least Oma can look after her now.
The Christmas party is on Dec 26th (Boxing Day for brits and canadians) and I have decided to be careful but not be obsessive about my waistline. Time enough for that afterwards.
Have a good evening!

That's a very manageable Christmas "party" size. If Dave isn't home, there will be 6 of us and 3 of those are the kids!
Whenever I cook salmon, I leave the skin on. I don't remove it before serving, either. The meat has always come right off, so I didn't bother. It's been a long time, but I think I cooked it skin side down, as well. Hope that helps!
I did see your new pic. Your place is gorgeous! It would be like living in an episode of House Hunters International.
It's the 22LR ammo that's been impossible to find. Some places have had it, but have doubled the price! I did find another box, yesterday, the last one they had and the guy said it was one price, which was $20 cheaper than when we'd bought that same box last weekend!! Dave has found some in Texas, too. At least now we have enough that some of his friends that have also been complaining about not being able to find it can get some from us. We'll only charge them enough to cover the bullets, tax and gas, etc. I can't even remember the last time I saw a single box (even a tiny 50 round box) at the Walmart in Salina. If you don't get to the stores within a few minutes of them getting it in, it's gone. And that's with them putting a 1 or 3 box limit (depending on the size and store) per person! It's not like someone is going in and buying every box.
I hadn't had a decent night's sleep in awhile, so I decided to try something different last night. I just stayed out here as if Dave were snoring in the bedroom. Lights off, tv on (the noise helps) and I slept!
I need to figure out a veggie idea for my teriyaki chicken and fried rice. I put a few things like a few peas and a bit of onion in my fried rice, but it's more for decoration than nutritional value. I need to keep with the oriental theme with the veggies. Any ideas? I was thinking some sort of stir fry veggies, maybe broccoli, onion, bok choy? I don't know...........
I need to figure out the veggie thing and do any of the last of my shopping (locally, hopefully!). I will need to go to the grocery store and I might run my Alco. Some stuff is 50 - 60% off, now. Other than that, it's cleaning. I've got to get that done today and tomorrow.
I did get Ralphie into the vet, yesterday afternoon, to get his shots updated. He normally loves to ride, but he must have gotten scared. He was riding on my lap, looking out the window, and he peed on my leg. I have a container of wet wipes in the car, so I'm trying to clean things up and drive! He did great at the vet and they absolutely loved him. He even stood up and reached up on the vet's leg so he could pick him up. I think my vet fell in love with him at that point! Zoie went along for the ride and has had a sore leg, so he looked at her, too (no charge). He thinks she hurt her shoulder, so she gets to have tramadol when she limps. Ralphie was sitting on my lap and we were almost home and he peed on the other leg. Seriously?? Needless to say, I did laundry as soon as we got home!
I better get moving. I need to do some recipe searches for veggie ideas and make my shopping list.

I forgot to mention that after we got home, Ralphie tore up the toilet paper in my bathroom. Think he didn't like going to the vet??? I'm not sure he didn't do that one other time right after we got home!

I had to laugh about Ralphie. I bet it wasn't funny at the time but what a character! He really showed you what he thought of a trip to the vets Hopefully you got it all cleaned up and the car doesn't smell.
Good thinking not sleeping in the bedroom - it worked! Glad you had a good night's sleep. Having the tv on seems to help as it drowns out any other sounds and it it's comforting.
You did well getting some more ammo. It's like gold nuggets! I wonder why it's so hard to get. Is it in restricted production or (very) high demand?
Stir fry veggies sounds perfect to go with your teriyaki chicken and fried rice. I used to get a bag of frozen stir fry veggies to make DH's shrimp stir fry. It had snap peas and water chestnuts etc in it. Broccoli is always a good choice. You can do your own stir fry mix - broccoli, red bell pepper (for color), onion, water chestnuts, zucchini sticks, carrots etc.
Dinner last night turned out great. I did cut the salmon in portions and removed the skin (I normally do). Everything was cooked in the oven and that worked out nicely. They even went for seconds It was fun to catch up and hear all about their trip to Puerta Vallarta. They got here at 5 and it was 9:30 when they left. I did get all the dishes done and cleaned the kitchen before bed. I hate walking into a messy kitchen in the morning.
The baklava was yummy and I'll have another piece with my coffee later on. It's DD birthday today - she's 27 so we can have a little celebration. She's on the island with my mum and I hope she feel much better after that nasty 'flu she had. We last spoke to her on Saturday when she had just gotten there and she still looked awful.
Today I need to make some more of the Plan breakfasts, I'm just about out. The broccoli needs using up too, so a pot of soup would be nice too. My cold is much better although I woke up with a splitting headache and I am still a little stopped up. DH is feeling worse again. His seems to come in waves of bad days, feeling better and than worse again. He now has a hacking cough as well
Have a great day!

Good morning. Isn't this Boxing Day? I can't remember for sure why a day is called Boxing Day. I always think of guys in trunks and boxing gloves!!
We had a good day, yesterday. The kids loved all their presents and we had a really nice dinner. Not knowing exactly when the kids were getting here and not wanting to mess with it later, I got the chicken ready and in the oven around 10:30. Considering I was using boneless, skinless thighs, that's pretty early. They were still just a tiny bit frozen and filled a 9 x 13 baking dish. I put all the teriyaki stuff on them (soy sauce, ginger, garlic and honey) and covered them with foil and baked them at 225 - 245. I had the cold rice in the fridge, cooked up scrambled eggs for the rice, had the peas and green onion cut up and in the fridge. Then, I took a bag of fresh stir fry veggies and tried to figure out what I was going to do with them. For something labeled stir fry, the pieces of broccoli were huge! I chopped them up and added fresh mushrooms and chunks of red and green cabbage. I had bought a can of oriental veggies (bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, etc.). After the presents were opened, Christopher started the fried rice and I started the veggies. I had already sauteed some finely chopped fresh garlic and ginger in a little coconut oil and butter, with some teriyaki sauce mixed in. I added the fresh veggies and stir fried them until they were almost done. I added the canned veggies and some slivered green onions. I thickened the whole thing with cornstarch and water. They were so good!! The perfect side to the teriyaki chicken and fried rice. It was much quicker than it sounds, too. I think Dave will like the leftovers.
The kids left around 5. Karun had crawled up into a dining room chair while the other 2 were playing at the table. I turned for just a second and he fell down. I don't think he hit anything, except the floor, but he wouldn't quit crying! I think a lot of it was that he was just too tired. I gave him a bath and he quit crying off and on, but he wasn't happy. We know he's not happy when grandma or daddy won't do it and he just wanted his mommy. He didn't even want a bottle of milk. After he settled down some more, they decided it would be a good time to head home.
I have a lot of trash and recycling in the garage. If that's any indication, we had a great day!
Dave called me last night. He was kind of frustrated with one of the guys down there and it is all going slower than he'd like. He's hoping that they get finished up today. Depending if they do or what time they do, he didn't know if he'd try to head home later today or not.
How was your Christmas? Did you get to skype with your daughter? Is she feeling any better?

Happy Boxing Day! The name comes from the old tradition of workers receiving their boxes (Christmas bonus) the day after Christmas. No boxing gloves involved
Your Christmas day sounds nice apart from Dave not being there and Karun falling and being upset the rest of the time. The food sounds lovely, so glad it all turned out great. We had a nice quiet day, a late start and then breakfast, coffee with a piece of baklava (1 more piece left!) and then at noon we had some smoked salmon with brown bread added for DH. I just had the salmon and 1 cracker. Then we watched an episode of Isabel, the spanish series we are following, and lunch was at 3pm. Grilled shrimp, salad and roast potatoes for DH. It turned out nice and there are still shrimp leftover. Late afternoon and in the evening we watched more tv and had some nibbles. DH opened a box of belgian chocolates..... We did Facetime with DD and my mum, they had a nice time and DD is feeling much better, still not much of an appetite. She needs feeding up, she lost a lot of weight with this 'flu but hopefully another week with my mum will help her put on some weight again. Wish I could send hersome of mine!
Today I am going to get a few bits at the market and then I'll make a pot of chili. It's that kind of weather - overcast and gloomy, it feels like it could rain. Tonight is the party but I don't know if we're going. DH is still coughing quite a bit and being in a closed space with a lot of people may not be the best thing right now... Fine with me, I'm not much of a party-girl My cold seems to be gone, just the odd sore throat now and then but if that's all that's lingering I can live with it. I have my energy back at least!
Have a great day!

Hi there. How is your weekend going. Is everyone well? Except for a little drainage and being way too tired from not sleeping, I'm feeling pretty healthy! Last night was about the worst for sleep that I've had since Dave's been gone. I don't know why. Well, part of it was a headache and I just couldn't get my head comfortable.
Dave is on his way home! He left down there about 6:30 last night. He was going to drive for awhile and then get a room. I assume he's on the road by now, but I haven't heard from him. I need to do a few things around here and take a shower. Other than that, I might try to nap. I had 2 naps, yesterday, through the same movie!

Darn about the not sleeping well - your whole day is shot when that happens. Did Dave make it home yet? Hope you have a better night's sleep tonight!
I just read on FB about your purple potato stew LOL I had something like that happen once when I added beets to the roasted veggies - it turned out a purple mess oh well, I bet it still tastes good.
We had a lovely quiet weekend. We skipped the Boxing Day party and just vegged but we did go and play pickleball last night. I managed to hurl myself against the side wall going for a shot and now have a big purple bruise on my shoulder. Luckily it doesn't hurt and I think that carrying on playing helped, rather than icing it as someone suggested - it would have been stiff this morning. Now it only hurts when I touch it and the joint feel fine.
I made a curry with the last of the shrimp and my freezer is stocked again with meals and broccoli soup. My weight was 138.7 this morning, still over where I want to be but not to bad after the holidays, I suppose... Back to eating better tomorrow. We have no plans for New Year's Eve (so far), so that should be fine. Are you doing anything special?
Hope Dave made it home alright, have a good evening.

Ouch!! If I already weren't using purple letters, I'd have changed it to purple in honor of your bruise! That's good that you were able to keep playing and it kept it from being sore. That's about as much as you could hope for at that point!! I hope it doesn't make it difficult for you to sleep.
You're doing well at being stocked up with good food. I'm back with it, now. I say that, we'll see what happens. I've had a lot of questionable foods the last month and I'm unhappily up at to 133.4 this morning!!! My ring has been pretty tight, lately, and I've felt bloated the last several days. Obviously, something I did wasn't agreeing with me. I haven't even been eating the chinese leftovers! Oh, I know. I had smoked clams a couple times while Dave was gone. You know, those little tins. I seem to remember once, way back, when I had like a 2 pound reaction to them. Maybe? I'll leave them alone and see what happens.
Yep, I had pink and purple stew - for awhile. By the time it cooked longer and was ready to eat, it was sort of dog food brown, except for the carrots and a piece of green cabbage here and there. I had to look close to tell the meat from the potatoes and cabbage!!! It still tasted just fine, though, so that's a plus. It's just not the prettiest stew I've ever made.
Dave made it home just fine, except for the fact that he was exhausted. He got home a little after 6, cleaned up and got his jammies on, ate dinner and promptly fell asleep on the couch! I think it was only 8 something when we headed for bed and a little after 9 when the tv went off. He was snoring and I fell asleep, anyway. It was probably a good thing I was exhausted, too! I woke up around 6:30 this morning.
The ironic thing is that I've been sleeping in the loveseat recliner or on the couch for a week and have been fine. I sleep in my own, comfy bed and now my hip hurts like it needs popped back into place. Go figure.
I don't think I've been coherent enough the last couple days to tell you, but one of our camping guy friends had a mini stroke a couple days ago!!! His wife took him to the ER and he was in the hospital overnight. He was home, yesterday, but they're still going to be doing more tests. She said they told them that he was lucky to have gotten to the hospital so quickly. His speech and muscle movements are ok, again, too. I hope the tests find the source of the problem and can be fixed. He's going to be 65 the end of January. While we're on the cruise, actually. One of their daughters and her husband are going with us this time, too.
I'm babysitting, again, today and tomorrow, but I'm not bringing them back over here. I'll keep them at their house until their other grandma gets off work. That's about 4:45. I made that big pot of stew and a double batch of chili, yesterday, so I don't have to worry about cooking! I'm looking forward to some taco salads. It's really cold (our high tomorrow is supposed to be 18 ), so a regular salad doesn't sound too appealing. I've resisted the urges for hot chocolate and chai spiced lattes!!
We have no plans for New Year's Eve. I had asked Christopher if he wanted to go our for his birthday (after he gets off work), but they already have other plans. I was sick so we didn't go out for mine and Chana's birthdays and then Dave missed Christmas, so I thought we might be able to do his birthday. Maybe next weekend or something. We're not having our party that we usually have here, either. The camping crew just wants to stay well for the cruise. I think us girls are having a shopping day on New Year's Day, though. At least that was the plan before Ron had his stroke. Dillards always has a mega sale on New Year's Day. Sondra was going to come up and at least some of the other camping girls and I were going to go over to Salina and have at it. I certainly don't need anything, but it is a fun day with the girls.
I think that's about it for me. I need to see if I can get my hip to quit hurting. It's not horrible, but I don't want it to get worse, either. Especially, if I'm going to be chasing after kids later!!
Give me a swift kick in the butt and tell me to behave and get back with it. I know it's too late to lose 10 pounds, but I could lose several between now and January 22. That's when we leave town. The boat doesn't leave until the 25th and we'll get home either on February 1 late or on the 2nd. Then, I'll have those spring months to get in camping shape, again! The good part of all this is that I don't like the pounds I've regained. Yes, I'm still down 20 pounds and I look way better than I did last year at this time, etc., etc., but I don't like the regain. I can "feel" it (I know you know what I mean by that) and I don't like it. In the past, it crept back on and I kept feeling like it wasn't that bad. This time, it seems that bad!!! Besides, if I gain, all those clothes in my closet won't fit! Can't be having that. Ok, I better go. I've got a 16 pound Ralphie on my lap now and he's hard to type around!
Have a good day. I hope your shoulder isn't giving you any trouble.

That is so annoying that the moment you're back in your comfy bed, your hip starts to hurt. How is is feeling now the day has progressed?
So sorry to hear about your friend and glad he is doing as well as he is. I know how scary these things are. It sounds like he had a mild one and should be ok over the next few weeks. Hope all goes well with him.
Your shopping plans sound so much fun! Dillards has such nice stuff. Even if you don't need anything it is fun to be out with the girls and browse.
I hear you on the extra pounds I was up over half a pound this morning and not even sure why! Grrr. It is starting to feel uncomfortable and I am so ready to get rid of those 5 pounds. Getting it done is a whole other story of course.... so many good intentions that get hijacked during the course of the day. I need to focus!
Thank you for the purple sympathy! Between your stew and my bruise we are quite the pair! I am happy to say that my shoulder doesn't hurt at all, the area is tender to the touch and has a nice color. I was lucky. Sleeping on it is fine as it is more the top corner of the shoulder joint, where the bone is rounded. (I am sure there is a proper name for it)
Today I had another quiet day - what's new? I seem to have lots of those right now. Back with spanish lessons in 2 weeks and it will get busy enough. I did change the bed and do a load of laundry. I did an hour or so in the office this morning and then DH took the cars on his different errands to fill them up as gas is going up again after the 1st. It will be nearly 14 pesos to the liter ($3.90/gallon) which seems ridiculous as gas in the US is so low right now. DH also had my Jeep washed and it looks all shiny and pretty again. After our trip to El Colorado the other week it was pretty dusty.
Not much else going on, have a good evening.
