I'm still a little unclear with the water thing. I understand that we are supposed to drink half of our body weight in water each day. I understand that drinking herbal teas, including the dandelion tea count for daily water intake. I understand that if we drink coffee, black or green tea, we have to make up that amount of water since those things are dehydrating. I saw a post on FB where Cindy Hwang said that you need to drink 8 oz of water for every 20 minutes of cardio and 8 oz of water for every 30 minutes of weight lifting. Does anyone know if that's in addition to your daily water total or should you wait to drink that water while working out? Thanks.

yes, it is in addition to your water intake, as far as when you drink it I am not sure. I take a water bottle with me with the extra intake that I need for that workout. Hope this is helpful.

Water tracking tip! We have water bottles that are 20 ounces. To keep track we put the number of rubber bands on the bottle. Either take one off as you drink or move it to top to keep track !

Yes-- we prefer that you not drink 45 minutes before or after (as much as possible) to help improve digestion (if you sip a little bit with meals that is ok). As far as when to drink the water that you add in for a workout-- you can add the extra in anytime during the day although most folks do end up having it throughout the workout!

The elastic IS a good idea! In the beginning, when starting this Plan, I needed a more visual form of help to encourage me to drink my water, because I've never liked water much and it was such an effort to drink it all -- I had to drink 120 oz at that time. I've taken to using a big fruit juice gallon jug and I marked it with a line at the level of how much water I needed to drink. (I draw a new line as I lose weight). I fill it up every morning and I can tell, at a glance, if I'm halfway through my water requirments at lunch time. I try to get 3/4 of the water gone 45 minutes before my snack. When it's 7pm, if I haven't been drinking much in that 45 minutes after snack time, then I know I gotta hustle my bustle to drink it all up within the next half hour! Now, on Day 18, I don't mind doing my water intakes but it's still an effort. The gallon is something I can carry around with me in the car or if I go visiting people. I need to see my gallon to know much I've drank and how much more I need to drink up.
